A friend told me he went to look at an old Cat that was being flogged on the net as an RD2. I thought there was no such thing as an RD2. Am I correct? Wasn't the J series D2 and the gas R2 built after the 22? Do I get to call him back and eat crow? Thanks for the answer in advance,

Jack

Speaking of the R2D2 reference has any one ever qualified if those little Caterpillar tractors were the inspiration for the Star Wars character?

Hi all,

One answer I came up with is: "How Did George Lucas come up with the name for R2-D2?

There must be some complicated technical answer, right? Nope.

Rumor has it that George Lucas and a co-worker were editing American Graffiti, when a co-worker asked Lucas for β€œReel Two, Dialog Two”, which is abbreviated β€œR2D2β€³. Lucas supposedly wrote down the abbreviation and used it as the name of the now famous droid in Star Wars."

Well, I never knew that but at least we know. Now the question comes up, where the C3PO come from...

Here is an answer: "C3PO was named after a post office which is located at reference C3 on a map of Lucas' hometown." maybe this is the real answer or maybe not.

But at least R2D2 had tracks....πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
