Speaking of the R2D2 reference has any one ever qualified if those little Caterpillar tractors were the inspiration for the Star Wars character?
Hi all,
One answer I came up with is: "How Did George Lucas come up with the name for R2-D2?
There must be some complicated technical answer, right? Nope.
Rumor has it that George Lucas and a co-worker were editing American Graffiti, when a co-worker asked Lucas for βReel Two, Dialog Twoβ, which is abbreviated βR2D2β³. Lucas supposedly wrote down the abbreviation and used it as the name of the now famous droid in Star Wars."
Well, I never knew that but at least we know. Now the question comes up, where the C3PO come from...
Here is an answer: "C3PO was named after a post office which is located at reference C3 on a map of Lucas' hometown." maybe this is the real answer or maybe not.
But at least R2D2 had tracks....πππππ
