I found a guy with a lot of old Cat parts. Some of the stuff he had for sale included a set of plate steel fenders that extended alongside the engine for engine gaurds. Below these mounted the skid pan. With an attached tow hook.

He thought the parts were off a 7J, but had a chalk mark on them indicating a 7U. I've never seen anything as neat as these. Any idea how common they were? I don't mind parting out the tow hook, but I'd hate to butcher some rare pieces of sheet metal / plate steel to make these fit another tractor if it would be the crowning piece for a resto.

Input?

Thanks,
David

HI Kid at Heart,
Yes, those are rare pieces, part of the enclosed belly pan and engine guards in Heavy Duty 3/8 plate. The tow hook is a bonus. Was available with or without the heavy duty grill guard and bumper. I have never actually seen this set up but I'm in the process of duplicating the fabrication based on parts book illustrations.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
