We got some much needed rain last night and today. Too wet to be outside so I started a project towed a thirty in the shop. Engine is stuck. Had water in the jugs. Two where stuck bad from rusted rings. We removed the head, all 4 cylinders, pistons and connecting rods.Crank looks good. Cleaned the oil pan out. I have a good set of 4 jugs, pistons with new rings on the rods ready to go and a head and gasket set so tomorrow I'll see how far I can get it back together. Here's a few pictures

Hi, Skinner.
Blessed be the rain. It's good that you could find something REALLY useful to do with the time. Happy re-assembling.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Made some progress today. Had to use the connecting rods from the stuck engine the other set I have doesn't fit the crank on this thirty. The two that were rusted stuck had to be pressed out then just had to remove wrist pins on both sets and change them over to the ones that fit the crank. Spent a lot of time getting the shims just right. Here's a few pictures Jon-Mark

question: did you reuse a head gasket or is it new? it does not look like olsens unless they are now made from copper.

Hi, Skinner.
The cans of worms that we sometimes open when we get into projects. It's good to see that you are making progress though. I'd bet that you are looking forward to hearing it start to rumble and rattle the barn soon.

Surprised to hear that a Cat with a built-in roof over it got so wet inside!

Very cool and fun looking project. Great to hear you have been able to round up the key parts.
