Looks a lot like the aluminum caps John Deere used from the 60's into the 70's, original equipment on tractors like the 4020 & 3020...the bolt hole in the Al wore out fairly quick & they got whopper-jawed & wouldn't close. The ones they sell now for replacement are a standard steel rain cap. These would be a close match for the original if one was restoring the tractor...
Couldn't be much worse than the tin flap where one brush with a limb and it's over. I'm going to give them a try.
Now that I think about it, those aluminum jobbers were the only ones that really worked right on the 2-cyl. JD's...they were counterweighted better & wouldn't flutter like the steel ones did due to the firing order. At idle, the steel ones will drive you batty, & destroy themselves pretty quick...
