Just got an R5 and the shift stick is stuck in neutral, I presume it is rusted, can't wiggle it in any direction. Anyone have a diagram or schematic of it? Has a shift tower as in picture.

Also need info on steering clutch linkage, one lever has no resistance and the other is almost to the seat before feeling any resistance.

A top mounted shifter like that one is a relatively simple thing. Hopefully once you unbolt it and lift it off the top of the transmission, you will find the "ball" on the stick is simply rusted solid in its socket and the shift rails below are in much better shape.

The steering clutch symptoms point to the clutch packs being swollen with rust, one worse than the other. I expect you are looking at a teardown and replacement to fix them vs any sort of soak and shock process of unsticking them. A quick look inside the steering clutches should tell the tale. Have someone move the levers and determine which parts of the linkage are moving/movable.

Seems like I remember the D4 has some bushings on the steering cranks in the upper part of the cases that tend to seize because of moisture and condensation. I thought the "5" was basically a D4 chasis?
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

The R5 is like a 35,40,RD6 on the chassis.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
