OK my r2 is plumed wrong I think has one line from rear (kerosene/ tractor fuel) tank to inlet of the fuel pump than out of pump to a brass valve out of valve one goes to carb and one goes to top of the front tank(start tank)

Sounds right to me. Valve should be able to switch between starting gas tank and tractor fuel tank (that's two lines) and the 3rd one should go to carburetor.

I suppose there is an off positon where neither one flows to carb?

Just noticed that you said the line from starting gas tank comes out the top? Is there a line from the bottom of it into carburetor or change-over valve? Is there a return line fitting into the top of the tractor fuel tank as well?
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

It is correct I did not realize that the start tank was shorter and the line that looked like it was going to the top was really the bottom now if I new how to reseal the fuel valve and I also need the control rod that goes from the dash down to the valve

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
