I am trying to get my newly acquired R2 6J ready to crank start and am wondering about the valve lash adjustment COLD. The operator's manual says intake 0.005 inch hot and exhaust 0.015 hot. Would using those hot settings cause any problem for the short term?

Also, does anyone know if all R2 J series came with a ring gear on the flywheel even if they didn't have any starter? Mine has a ring gear but no evidence of any battery box or electrical system having been mounted.

Thanks
Pete

Cold settings are usually 0.002" more than hot.

Thanks, Rome. I figured that there was some adjustment but wasn’t sure how much or which way it should go.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
