Question on my R2 steering clutches where rebuilt about 10 years ago. I have been able to run it every summer from that tim but due to health can,t this summer. I have the sticks tied back [released] can i just run the engine in gear and shine them up so they don,t stick.
Thanks:noidea:

Have someone crawl underneath and remove the Drain Plugs in the Final Drives.
Drill holes in them so that sitting from non-use, the Finals will not fill with condensation or rain/snow water.
I suggest 1/8" holes in the centers of them, then replace to keep Rodents out.(Yes, Mice will get in them)
This will help in your situation.

It helps to keep the holes in the drain plugs of the steering clutch (and main clutch) compartments open if you put in a cotter pin that can rattle around some.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time๐Ÿ˜„
