We have a D6 9U serial # 9U 27566. It appears that we are getting some fuel leaking into the injection pump housing. My guess is one of two things; either the vent lines are plugged or there is one or more seals leaking fuel into the housing. I remember some time back there was a post on the board about this problem. How complex of a job is it to pull this apart if new seals are required and fix it. Your sage advice would be appreciated.

Start with leaking where??...are you talking about fuel in the drain trough at the back of the housing (looking in with injection pump cover off) or down in the oil sump?

When draining the housing an refilling with fresh oil we noticed that the oil had been deluted with fuel. I would assume that means there is fuel in sump correct? It was not severe but enough that could lead to problems.

Yes, oil dilution with fuel is not good.
Check to see that the drain line is clear. If it plugs up and you have fuel leaking either from worn injection pump barrels and plungers or possibly but not likely the seals between the pump assemblies and the housing the fuel will accumulate and leak past the pump lifters into the sump.


Usually if it's the seals you will see external signs of leakage.
