Bob: I read the other day from an old memo from Finning tractor that some of the first 66A series D9Gs were a double reduction spur gear final drive instead of the inboard planetary double reduction unit. I was wondering if you might know the serial nu. break when they changed over

I'm not Bob, but maybe he won't mind.
I have the Service and Parts Manuals for 66A1-12015 and all are shown to have the planetary reduction gearing.

Production went to 66A14593 but I doubt they changed that late in the game.

Maybe early experimental had all spur reduction??

I don't know. Any 66A's I have seen had planets.

All the D9G's I ever pulled apart had planetary final drives, and I did quite a few from very low serial numbers up to around 1970 production. can't say I ever saw different final drives in the parts books.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
