I don't Peter, but boy am I interested in seeing LOTS of detailed pictures as you disassemble it.
The picture you have posted about the features of the winch are much better than the parts and installation manual. There is no master link in the parts list, just chain, you will have to go over the chain and see, also it looks like you can see the cap screws that hold the sprocket onto the drum in your picture, but not in the parts book.
Roller chain without master link?
I do not ever recall working on a roller chain without master link.

How about automotive timing chains?
Daron
(I did get the set from Rob Mcleary. Nice.)

Yes Daron,
Timing Chains, Chain Saw Chains, Bicycle Chains, to name a few that did not have master links per say.
There is always an exception.
Thanks

very neat. but how are you going about reversing the drum? or is it just power in and the dog it out for free spool? simple but sometimes them dog to like to shift especially under load.
thanks for sharing.
Thanks every one for all of the input.
Josh and every one, I did find a master link on the chain AFTER I got it all apart and cleaned up. Here are some pictures.
mog5858: Yes, there is no reversing of the drum. It is free wheel out but the brake is missing so it will only be to lengthen the cable. Here is the sliding clutch for free spooling:
Neil, here are pictures. I use them for reassembly hoping every thing was correct when I disassembled it: ![]()
that is normal duplex drive chain it will have a joiner link they can be "fun" as there is a fish plate in the middle too.
yes while many timing chains dont have a joining link some do. ive worked on stuff that did. saw chains and bicycle chains use a chain breaker press and a rivet spinner to break and make the chain.
