i have a D4 6U 1953 model with a 4s blade. my question is there is a valve block on the right front fender where the flow from the hydraulic control unit divides and goes to the lift cylinders. this block also has a couple of blocked off ports and a lever on top. is this made so a rear hydraulic implement can be selected and used while disabling the blade lift?

Yes, it is the valve diverter.
