I need to rebuild a PV15 carburator (Ensign BEV-1). I understand that it is the same as a model 10.

Is there anything special that I need to be on the look out for? Do I need a kit or can I get by with making a bowl gasket?

I am also looking for the bottom can to the air cleaner if anyone has one.

Thanks,

John

John, I dont know how to exaclty do that quotation box thing so I just cut and pasted what Tom Madden wrote:

"I have been dealing with Bill Campbell who has Carb kits and parts for the Ensign and Zenith carbs for Cats. Very knowlegable and reasonable with the prices. Bill will also work with you to develop parts that he is not currently stocking. Bill will have a table set up with parts and kits at the BEST SHOW ON TRACKS in June in Woodland, CA.

Bill Campbell (705) 488-2802 or (813) 677-2498 or email [email protected]"

I talked with Bill once for a long while and he will have the kit you need and I am sure give you a ton of great pointers.

John,

The most critical thing is making sure you get the center pedestal fitted with the proper size gaskets. Too thin and all it will do is suck air...too thick and you will crack the pot metal bowl cover. Test fit it several times. Make sure the pedestal does seal top and bottom. There should be a slight gap between the top cover and bowl when you fit the top cover with the proper gaskets above and below the pedestal. Tightening the screws will then assure a good seal. If the cover fits up tight without the screws...then chances are the gaskets are too thin. It might work at first but as soon as the gaskets have soaked, then dried...they will shrink and lose the seal. No amount of cranking will ever start it.
