I finally got motivated and began working on my present from Glen.
Gave it a HOT bath, and some minor work. Replacing a couple of hoses, pulled the ram for the pan and re-honed it. Straightened out the mounting plate and re-tapped the threads.
Tires hold air, weathered as they are, I will try it out either here or or Tulare.
If I like moving dirt, I will either replace with the 11.00-20 tires or add some bling with some 385-22.5 super singles and aluminum’s at rear/ 285-75R24.5 in the front with Alcoa’s as well.
I don’t plan on getting carried away with this project unless I use this scraper more.
Next question is should I pair it up with a 7U, a C or a D series D4? I don’t own an E, it looks nicer when units are paired era correct!

Others know more, but after pony motor on my rememberer firedhttp://www.acmoc.org/bb/images/icons/confused.gif this is the model that uses the extra hydraulic tank on the hood of a u series D4.

Good that there are not 40 projects ahead of this one.

And since you are asking we need to see how it looks behind a high track D4 just for comparison you know.

Yes Ray54 you are absolutely correct. That would be my issue with the U series. I have not a single one of the 7Us with large capacity tanks on the BeGe units or a surge tank on the one with the 41( single valve anyways). I’d like to work my way up to the D4E 70X “Cadillac” that D4e has for sale, but he didn’t offer me the “good friend” price like OilSlick does ( maybe that’s a good thing? Hahaha).
Maybe what I need is a turbocharged 5 roller 7U with a #44 unit....

Juice:

I can attest to the turbo, DE, 5 roller 7U but mine is set up with the BeeGee live hydraulics that work just fine. It pulls a 40 scraper like a dream. I highly recommend that combination.

I look forward to seeing it run one day soon.

Hey C $$, around here, a few of us supertrucker types have a pimped out truck or some trailers. That really comes in handy when the heads of multinational mega (b)million clients fly in and want to see what Juiceman and crew does to earn their business. I really like it when we have to have a professional detailed/polisher crew come in before the camera people yell "ACTION!!!"
So I might as well possibly try bling bling on a scraper...it won't make me a better operator, but I'll try to look good digging potholes😎. Seriously, if I like using the scraper can, I plan on changing all the hoses, maybe gut the main cross tube, torch off any add ons, sandblast, paint, etc. For the time being, the minimum applies. We will see.
I've seen some CAT stuff that was pretty well chromed that impressed me.
Tuxedo for Garlic? That might be a stretch.

How many cubic yards does it hold ? ( amateur opinion ...) you could pull it with a D2 but your success filling it up will be limited . In my experience a D7 pulls a 10 yard scraper like nothing. A D6 pulling the same scraper CAN fill it, but it's not as easy or consistent .

Those scrapers are surprisingly handy once you get used to them. Grader/scraper/loader/ dancer/ whatever.

Looks neat JM. Late 5 roller 7U gets my vote, of course that D7 in the background would break it to lead.

They used to pull 51 IH combines in the really steep ground with a D7. That way, where the cat went the combine would follow. Period.

Have fun with it.

Keep it original! It's bad enough the siamese D8's have chrome curved semi pipes. lol

Okay I get it. NO SPINNERS! So much for pimping my “ride”.
I might cheap out though, and use stock tires and steel wheels LP24.5 because I already have racks full of tires. No need to spend a bunch of dough for something I may never use. Oh shoot, what am I saying? That’s what I do with my CATs.....not much!
I’m probably going to make a larger tank for a 2 valve BeGe unit, unless D4e thinks his tractor is able to pull the 40....

Hey JM --

You need me to come see you? Those Painted pads show it needs exercise, we could wear the paint off on that racetrack you were discing!

Nice looking work, keep it going.

I do have to agree - I can only see Garlic Pete in a Tuxedo - have to cut the sleeves and legs off, a bit worried about his necktie, it could cause problems if got caught in the turning fan!

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
