I thought I would send a link to my web site that shows some progress on my Traxcavator project.
Go to http://www.mervbergman.net/CaterpillarD4/ and click on the first thumbnail to start the slide show. (Move the cursor away.)
I will move the cat out of my small shop for the winter while I work on my '26 Model T Roadster but the engine work will go forward at my neighbors shop.

Great pictures!!!!! I like seeing how different people go about working on these old Cats. Keep us posted as the work progresses and keep up the good work. Looks like it will be a nice machine when you get it done.

Great Pictures! Your wife did a good job of getting the site going again, tell hers Thanks. I have got mine running now but I have a miss in the cylinder that has the new sleeve and piston😞 OM says to try swapping pumps around as swapping injectors did not help. If you need a source for sleeves and pistons, I got mine from American Crane and Tractor parts, about $140 per set. I see now what you saying about getting the pan off without taking the loader off, you need to take the radiator off to get the tractor to pass through the loader frame. I finally did the rod work through the inspection cover using mirrors to get the cotter pins in the rods.

D4 guy: Very nice details and photos of the work on the machine, I learned alot just from the photos. Plan to do the same work as you but will be on an Allis HD6 G.

Keep up the Great Work.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
