Do you mean thread size?
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

D4's are all the same 1-1/8" x 12tpi.
Identification depends on whether they are two piece (chamber & retainer) or one piece type. Cylinder head bore for chambers is a smaller diameter for early heads (yours). Later large bore chambers are a hair over 2-3/8" dia. Early units are slightly over 2-1/8 dia.
Best to go by part numbers and don't trust after market lists as they are full of errors.

Thanks for the replies. Hasting Deering (Caterpillar Aus) never got back to me so I went through Tilly's Crawler parts and he said there were two different sizes so I take it mine is the earlier and smaller size? Not sure what year mine is.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
