I removed magneto from D47U. Magneto worked on and I want to install it. I am concerned about getting the timing correct. I notice that the gear on the magneto has an "M" stamped onto the wheel. Magneto people said that this is line up with ??? on the fly wheel teeth.

Please advise on this issue. Line up with what? Or is there a correct procedure that I should follow?

If you look on the front side of where the mag bolts to the housing you,ll see a pipe plug so remove it & there is where the engine camshaft gear teeth show & you turn it till the mark for the mag comes up & then line the mag gear mark with it. You also need to remove the mag cap & get the rotor to be on the correct side for the wire so you don,t have to cross the wires for it to fire correctly.#1 cyl. on the starting is the left side so open the drain cock & when a gush of compression comes out that will be #1 & watch in the plug hole behind the mag for that mark on the camshaft to match up with the mag mark on the mag gear.

Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible for Old Magnet or someone else to post the instructions again for this? I'm currently working on the same exact thing with my D47U and could definitely use the information. I appreciate it!

I have the same problem, timing the magneto to the cam gear on D4 6U pony motor, but unfortunately I don"t see the instructions Old Magnet posted. Could you please repost the instructions?
Thanks in advance
Keith.
