Vídeo following, next step, changing oil, filters ECT. I have read on here I should add a pre filter on fuel, any suggestions? Should I remove cover on oil pan and clean screen? The injector pump is over full of oil, does this mean fuel is leaking in the oil, the fuel tank was bone dry. Setting 18 years. Should I regasket something or try it forst. Thanks for all the help I got to get the pony running.this is a great group, looking forward to meeting some of you. I tried to upload a video, couldn't figure it out, could someone let me know how to.

Disregard the grumpy old guys.

Congrats on getting your pony going. Everyone like pictures, maybe include your serial number. Sounds like you did some searching on here already... LOTS of info to soak in.

Welcome !

Daron wins. I must be getting old. I commented on the other post about the serial number even. It was a couple months ago. Good job on getting the pony running.

I’m never grumpy! Jack’s comments to the OLD grumpy from MN. Just trying to add some levity to his post; I doubt that grump meant anything snarky about it....
Yes, excellent on the pony running. Me like. Post pictures now. Lots of them. Please!!! JM

One of the easier ways to deal with video is to upload and link to youtube.

Regarding the injection pump housing overfull.......only thing I would do right now is ensure the drain line from the upper compartment where the lifters are is open to the ground. It usually is connected to another line by a t fitting so you might have to disconnect one OT the other branch and run a wire up it, use compressed air etc. Leakage from the pumps should collect in the upper chamber and be channeled to the drain.

If you have a plug in the governor end of the pump housing fuel gallery that runs along from front to back under the engine side of the pumps, it can leak into the governor and collect in the oil sump. It uses an 8b4967 o-ring just like the one between pump housing and fuel filter housing. That one usually leaks directly into the engine oil so it is a more immediate problem. Late models didn't have a casting with an opening on the governor end, so no plug seal to leak.

Oh ......change the diluted? oil! If its the fuel gallery plug seal, it will quickly fill the housing again while it's running and has fuel pressure.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
