pony mag timing???

From what your are saying it sounds like it's not timed right.
I have a d4 G that I have timed, and what I do is:
Get # 1 cylinder or (left side) on top dead center.
Then lign up your (m) mark with the mark on the maganeto.
Note: when the cylinder is on TDC you should see the M mark on the flywheel.
Its worked well for me. Good luck 😄

Thanks for the tip! I assume when you mention number one being on the left side, that you are sitting in the seat looking forward! Anyway, will recheck my job and see what happens.

Same drill for the J and U models if you have the American Bosch Mag.

If the mag gear is timed to the drive gear in side the engine then usually if the mag is out of time and not on #1 just switch the wires in the cap and this is for a D2 @ D4 starting engine.
