Since it's a nice day out, I'm going to get a plan together for spring. I'd like to get the pony motors on my D7-17A and D6-9U running. Where could I find carburetor kits for these two?

on my 9u's, all i did was drill the bottom passage in the float bowl to clean it out good with a drill bit, then soldered the hole shut again. CC jersey (i think, correct me if i'm wrong) uses BB's with finger nail polish to reseal his units. I also installed a new float that i ordered from cat and it worked fine. the needle and seat were ok, as were the throttle shaft bushings. everything else i cleaned out real good. reassembled units with new gaskets (also from Cat) and they purred like a kitten after. they would start with full choke, and the little spring thingy worked to open the choke after it fired off. they idled good and pulled good under load, did not require choke to be partially on to keep engine running at idle or under load.

Thanks for the replies. I'll go see what my Cat dealer can get.

I drilled the lower passage lead plug out just a whisker smaller than an air rifle pellet and tapped that back in. Has not leaked yet in a couple of years.

Yes, but they only answer the phone on Monday & Tuesday! Really! And have a bigger list of what they won't do for you than what they will. However they do list a lot of applications. Let us know what you find out

I do need one for that too. If I remember right, they are the ones that rebuilt the carb on my D6 2H.

The Green tractor people also have parts - used on the pony for a diesel farm tractor.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
