Pony carburetor overhaul instructions D4-5t

I need a copy of carburetor section of the repair manual for a D4-5t. I would like to overhaul the carburetor of my D4 in the next few days. I have the kit but Caterpillar does not see fit to include the instructions with the kit (they should for the price!). When I picked up the kit I asked for the float adjustment dimension, but now that I have looked over the kit I want more of the initial settings.

I am waiting for price, availability and ultimately delivery from CAT on manuals.

Is there anyone I might get a copy from?

At the Cat shop I rebuilt lots of carbs over the years & all we did was adjust the float arm when you turn the housing with the float attached on top up in the air by setting the arm & float parallel by sight with the housing & you should have no problem with it.It should work fine if you set it like this.Let us know how it works out.Always turn the gas off from the tank after the starting engine is shut off.

The person who wrote the removal instructions should have had the opportunity to remove one. The text shows him to be a master of understatement. I needed to remove the float bowl from the body to access the right base attachment bolt and I see no other way without removing the Governor. Also take care to make sure to clear the fixed jet that protrudes through the body. and is in line with the nut. For removing the nut next to the Magneto a Crow foot wrench, 1/2", would be good to have .

Geoff. you did the right procedure to remove it so next time if there ever is one it will be a piece of cake.That first time taking anything apart is a challenge but the next time is much easier.
