Hi All,

I need to get a rebuild kit for the pony engine carb on my d4 2t. I called the carburetor shop (listed in the parts source thread) and the told me I needed to get the numbers off the round tag so that they could get me the correct rebuild kit. That sounded reasonable, so I went and looked at my carb. I found the little round tag, but there are no numbers on it. Can somebody please advise me on what the correct cat and zenith part number would be for this carb?

The original Zenith carb kit is K609 . They should
be able to work with that.

Tag on my D2 carb says: 5F3527. Under that is: 0368B.
the kit I got is: K2067, but no brand name, I got it from my carb/mag guy...he was glad to get rid of it...
This is the carb w/the super-duper/monkey-motion/mousetrap/reset/spring-loaded choke, like your pic...

I talked to the guy at the carburetor shop again. He couldn't look up anything based off of the pictures or the kit number. Cat dealership was able to give me the Cat PN, but not the Zenith number. I also didn't have much luck looking up the engineering drawings at work.

The guy I talked to at the carb shop did tell me that it wasn't unusual for caterpillar to remove the tag and turn it upside down if it was sent to them for rebuild. I suppose my next move is to try to get the tag off and see if the numbers are on the other side.

I suggest trying a different shop, it is really not that hard and these guys are supposed to be experts. Are they just going out of the way to be difficult?

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
