Tried to post a reply three times but no go. Used to live about 4 miles from the plowing site. Lots of horse teams years back at the Conrad Black Dirt days.

Thanks for sharing. Questions about contest?
Do they judge based on speed, depth, straight lines or what? I have never been to a plowing contest here.
Enlighten us please. Thanks! JM

The plowing contests have more rules than one can shake a plowshare at. Here is a sample of the national ones in the US but there is the larger World organization with similar but different rules.

Judged on straightness, all furrows must be the same no pairing meaning you cant count the rounds that you have made. Furrows must be clean and no dirt up on the unplowed ground. Judges walk on both ends and do the scoring on each person. Points are added up to place the winner. Depth is about 6 to 7 inches deep. It is a timed event but fast speed is not used. It is more on accuracy and uniformity.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
