My D2 (serial #6453) is having an issue. I planned on operating it today and was going thru my fluid checks before starting. When i opened the fuel injector pump housing to check the oil, a steady stream of diesel came pouring out. The flow was constant and would not stop until i placed the cap back on. I recently replaced the large "O" ring and seal in the fuel injection pump. Not an easy job! I ran the machine for a couple of hours last week and pulled a disk with it. Everything worked perfectly. By the way, there is NO fuel contamination in the diesel engine. Any thoughts??

d4angelo, the injection pump housing is separate (oil lube) to main engine so there should be no contamination on that side, I would suggest issue is on the injection pump housing side, the sound of it the tank is pretty much free draining thru the system when cap is off, the part of leaking I don't know of but im sure way more experienced member will give much better advise to point you in the right direction

Did you replace both seals (front and rear) when you had it apart?

Hi Angelo, did you replace both o-rings? There's the one at the front where the assembly bolts on to the filter tower and there's a second at the other end of that gallery, adjacent to the governor. If that second one let go, it would freely drain into the injection pump housing. The other thought is to remove the rack cover and see if there's any draining from the injector bodies. I don't think so since that cavity drains through those tubes on to the ground but it's only 4 or 6 bolts so it's a quick easy check

Cheers, Neil.

Thanks to all for the help. I only replaced the "O" ring where the injector pump housing joins the fuel tower. Sounds like I need to remove the governor and replace that one also. I have no reason for not replacing BOTH "O" rings. I just concentrated on the seal and inside "O" ring that is next to the fuel tower for some reason. It sounds like an easier job than before. Do i just need to remove the governor? I will remove the rack cover (easy job) to make sure.

Yes, you can just remove the governor casing to get at the plug
