WOW! Thanks for posting the photo's. First I noticed Mary Ann's sister Pam.
Any chance you'll make it to Santa Margarita next year and see Mary Ann?
Thanks for posting. It looks like the stretch D8 has a second bigger/wider blade attached in front of the normal blade, or what? That wheeled transporter is cool also. Looks like they were about to give it a tow start in the next to last picture.
Roger,
I keep asking that same question. I think that is Pam with the Balderson blade. And I have been trying to figure out if it was mounted on the original blade. From this picture, it looks like that is what they did. I would think that would really make the nose heavy. I need to ask our new Chapter 16 member about that.

Hey Jan,
When the 3 girls, Pam Colleen, and Mary Ann were lined up at the sale, I got a good look at the Balderson blade that went on Pam. I stayed away from Pam as the blade was so Huge. It was an extra large "U" dozer. The perception of another blade behind it is the way it's made with large wings on the side up front. It might have been ok for snow, but it would be way too much for Walt to push dirt with at a Santa Margarita... ![]()

Glad everyone enjoyed them, I certainly would like to make it to that and see one of these in person!
I wonder how many more engine overhauls Pam has been through since the overhaul depicted in these pictures. The side of the block has stenciled in "summer 96" below the "JRP" which is my guess the mechanics initials. He said the rubber tracked challenger didn't work very well at all up there as the tracks would get cold and brittle. The transport trucks he couldn't remember who made them but it wasn't Oshkosh, that would have been my first guess. There were some other pics he had of Mcmurdo and other things to do with the station I wished I had snapped more pictures of.
The trucks look like the ones that foremost industries makes here in Calgary. Commander I think is the model.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Hi, 657cat.
That was my thought too and I have a vague memory of seeing some photos of Foremost trucks being made with an article that said they were heading for Antarctica - cain't remember where or when though.
Just my 0.02.
