Jim - The tractor was a D8, not a D6 .. and it was built by the Petersons .. primarily a "Buster" Peterson design, as I understand. There were at least three versions of the Siamese D8 - the Super Push Cat, the Coal Pushing D8, and the "high clearance" D8. The "high clearance" Siamese D8 was the version supplied to the King Ranch.
Here is the Peterson website showing some small pictures of the tractors ..

.. and here are a couple more .. one of the King Ranch tractor in action, and one with a front view of the Holt clearing or "funnel" blade ..

Hi, OzDozer.
Those 'Saimese' D8's were 2U's and, to the best of my knowledge, there were only 3 sets made, one of each of the variants that you listed. From what I can gather, there was not a lot of difference between the 'Super Push Cat' version and the 'Funnel-Dozer' version other than the funnel dozer version being 2' 6" wider and the attachments with which they were they were fitted. It looks as if the funnel dozer version had some fairly specialised belly plating too, understandable considering what it was designed for.

As I understand it, Buster did the research for this idea using 2 x AC HD19's before he built the 'real thing' with 2 x D8's. - maybe he didn't want to waste 2 perfectly good D8's if the idea didn't work. I suspect that the 'saimese' HD19's went to work at Hungry Horse dam before the Super Push Cat D8's were built and went there as I have seen a couple of photos of 'siamesed' HD19's and I think the caption said that they were at Hungry Horse.

D42tJim, I don't remember ever seeing anything about 2 x D6's being 'siamesed. so I can't help you. Happy hunting.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
