Aloha,

I have a bit of moisture in the mag. Has anyone ever actually baked one in an
oven before?

If so, how long, plastic cover on or off? And what temp? How long?

Thanks!

You should't do this you better use a hair-drier because in the oven
you could get probleme.

Magnetos are used to being stuck on a hot engine at temperatures of 190 degrees or more. I don't see what harm could be done by baking them in an oven at that temperature for an hour or two. I'd get a spare mag first just to be safe!

Watch that you don't melt the coil! Dandy Dave!

Rather than baking it, I'd take the cap/coil off and hose it and the inside of the mag down with electrical cleaner, set everything outside and let it dry. That should get rid of any moisture and grease. Be careful, some of the cleaners are highly flammable so you might want to do any spraying outside in fresh air.

48 Hours placed on top of a warm oven will dispel all moisture out of Mag. Very high temperatures may do more damage than good. good luck Atlas

If you use starting fluid on the cap it will take the moisture out but let it dry before you put the cap back because it could blow to peices.
