Thank you. I love this machine. Runs very smooth. Recently rebuilt the wing plow components. I actually prefer this cable wing with a winch over the hydraulic wing hook ups on the other two. Rebuilt the engine and pony a few years ago. Starts easily, even in the coldest temps. Thanks again.

Mark, is the wing fully cable? Reason I ask is that the local town plow trucks have cables running from an inboard hydraulic cylinder to the wing slide mechanism, so I don't know if one would call that cable, hydraulic, or hybrid?

In the photos, in front of the cab, is a two drum winch operated by taking the pto shaft from the scarifier. This is a cable system only. It's made by a company called Ohmsteel (Omaha Steel). They changed to Rivinius but have long since stopped making parts for any of their old wing plows. The other two are hydraulic operated with cable attachments to the wing. Like you referred to. One of the other two is a "newer" Ohmsteel wing and the other is from Craig Manufacturing, out of New Brunswick Canada. The winch operated wing has three positions..wing toe, wing heel and center position for operating both at the same time..But its a complete cable operated system. Works amazing smoth. Rebuilt the winch (Bearings, seals), removed the old shivs and made new pins and bushings on the lathe. Very smooth operating plow. I'll take a few more photos.

Thanks Mark, I like how their manual uses the same style as Caterpillar manuals

Was not Rivinus the company that made a steering clutch assist mechanism for Cats in the 40's and 50's?

Hi, 8C 361.

Yep, and they also made hydraulic steering boosters for the older Cat graders.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
