Hello mates, on tuesday I managed to watch a prototype of a scraperdozer at work on a construction sit here in the are. Job was top soil removal.

It's built by a Swiss company called Frutiger (known for tire cleaning/truck washing systems for landfills...). IFAK its the 3rd machine of that series, and there summing up hours to figure out where and what sort of problems might show up.

It's weight empty is 45 tons, loaden up to 90+ tons. Rated at 480 HP out of a Mercedes V-6 Diesel, it runs with 14mph. That's quite impressive to see. Each track is connect via a hydraulic ram to the bucket between them. At top of each ram there is an suspension system, so each track can swing independet up and down.

The operator sits with his back to the left side of the scraperdozer, achieving good front and rear view for travelling.

Acctually, I don't like the green. 😮D But a nice crawler to watch, though.

Cheers,

Max

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
