All,

I just got the serial number of the CCU on the D8 I recently purchased. It was written in the tractor's original parts book and says it is a cable control unit #29 with serial number 56C3173. I also got the serial number off the tractor which was 14A0606.

I think I found an operators manual for the CCU on yesterdays tractors site. Do you think this would be it...Caterpillar Cable Control Attachment #23,24,25,29,30 Operators Manual?

Also, can someone tell me the year of the tractor from the serial number? I think it's probably a '57 or maybe '58.

14A0606 is a 1955 14a1-14a2529

Unless the number was typed wrong in the thread above, a 14A6006 is a 1957

????All the operators manuals I have for CCU's have individual books but I guess if it covers your model it should be good.

Without digging it out I believe thats the same one I have. Its fairly in depth on adjustment and repairs.
