More pictures... I hope to go there again on Friday and take some more pictures. Until then I'd love to hear all about these things, the good, bad and the ugly. Obviously this thing will need quite a bit of love...![]()
Oz Dozer use to say that the ring and pinion gear were the weak links. Pull off the 4 bolt cover on the rear with your 15/16 and take a look inside with a flashlight.
Make sure you get it cheap! Looks like an expensive repair. Should weight around 18-19k
1953 model, here are the specs....
mike is right, only buy if it is cheap like scrap value or less. It seems people nowadays are pricing stuff out of sight with no consideration what it cost to get something running.
I looked at a early RD6 yesterday that has both motors locked, undercarriage is shot and been stored outside for the past 30 years and the guy still wanted 3500.oo
He siad: "it was running when it was parked", not sure how many times i have heard that one but it was always "parked" for a reason.
-Good luck
Thanks for the replies so far fellas,
I was thinking $500, is that too low/high? I was hoping it would be a bit lighter so I could haul it on a 21K trailer behind my one ton, probably a bit heavy for that:nono:... If I do end up getting it I may just take the loader arms and bucket off and haul it in 2 trips... We'll see what the guy says first...
Cheers!
Usually minimum price is scrap value in your area.
Yah, everyone wants CHEAP until they go to sell!!!!
equals 9 to 9.5 tons which at $100/ton equals $1000.
Remember you can always start low($500), if you are good enough at pointing out the potential flaws of said machine to the Seller.
Remembering that as you Dicker over the price to not exceed the Scrap value as that maybe very well what it ends up being(SCRAP)!
Good Luck! 👍
on a side not looks it not running street pads. i know you could get loads with out them but that add's lost of more stress when do lost of turning witch a loader cat dose that why they used street pads. not saying it too gone but you will lean a lot if you decide to take on this "little" project. good luck keep up posted
