Worked with a couple of experienced ops yesterday stripping topsoil for a swale and grading behind our new display building. We had four Cats running during the day: me on a 1959 D4C, another op on a 1963 D6B, and another one who started on his 1954 8U tugging a LeTourneau pan then switched to a 955. The 4 and 6s belong to Bill Williams who was running the pan and 955. The scraper belongs to the club, and the 955 belongs to JV3 Construction. All of these could go to work daily tomorrow if they had to.

Couple of pics here, will follow up with video soon!

Nice. That would have been pretty neat working beside all those machines. Everywhere you look something is working. What were you on? The D6B? Cheers

I was on the D4C that day. I've spent a lot of time on the D6B as well, supposedly it's sort of a rarity having a front CCU and grading blade, along with a higher-geared transmission. It was originally a USACE machine. That 4 ain't nothing to sneeze at though, personally I prefer it!

Let me know when you make it out, I'll make sure you get the grand tour. I'm sure you'd enjoy much of what we have out here. I understand they got a lot of the fine grading around the building done the last couple weekends despite the rain and the floor should be poured and usable before our show.

It's got a reverser. We're lucky with our geology situation, property used to be a farm. Good dirt on the field, nice sand in the pit.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
