Thanks for the heads up! Good info in it, thanks, Andy.
Is this the one on cincinatti craigs list for 3500 i would buy that in a heartbeat if i had some loose cash looked like about new tires and very clean
Thats it! He has sent serial #, 3u 187.From what I can find on this site, that makes it a 112 ? Pretty early production I guess. Any idea what year?
ANDY
3u187 is a 1947. First year with the D315 engine
Well, I got it bought this evening!!:loco I'll try and post some pics when i get it home, prob this week end. Pretty happy with it, 69 years new!! Engine & frame serial #'s match! Showing 1500+ hours, could this possibly be right? Probably not....but still seems to be in good shape! Parts book on the way, Ebay. First order of business, brakes. Cat dealer can still get the brake parts, who else can supply parts for a 69 year old machine? NOBODY!!!!!!GO CATERPILLAR!!!!
Got the old girl home, real happy with it. Sheared the pin on the front leaning wheel, last owner tack welded coupling, now it let go. How hard a pin does it take? Added brake fluid and right side is working, looks to have been rebuilt. Notes the mechanic kept said couldn't get left wheel off to work on brake. Put new belt on power steering and it works OK when your moving. Bought a operators and a parts book off E bay. Still needing a servicemans book for 112 3U #187. Any one have one? Trying to post pictures, but not having much luck yet.
Andy..
