Dad went out and found the brass tag on the rear of the tractor.

2U-10297.

It also has a big front end grubber that mounts in place of the blade as well as the electric starter on the pony motor.

Dad is nearing 70 and hasn't been on the tractor in a couple of years. He still has intentions to grub the pasture (food plot for deer) but I don't see it happening now. It's too much trouble for him to remove the blade and put on the grubber.

He needs a set of rear tires and hydraulic pump for his JD4020 and is willing to sell the old D8.
Would something like this bring $2000 - $3000.

I think you can find a picture in yesterday's posts.

Thanks

Tommy

We live in West Texas. Scurry County.
I'm currently in Kuwait (petroleum industry) until the first week of December.

That would be a 1950 model. Does it run? That and the undercarriage condition would be a big factor on value.

That's a tidy and straight 2U series D8, that has maybe 25% undercarriage life left, at an educated guess, from a long distance pic.

These are good old tractors, and if it starts and runs O.K., it's definitely worth $2500 - 3000.
The problem is .. that D8's are a large tractor .. heavy, and seriously overwidth .. and moving them is large cost factor. Moving them any serious distance will eat up half or two-thirds the tractors value.
As a result, your potential buyer field, is limited to a relatively modest distance from your location. Try an ad on craigslist, or list it on eBay ..eBay has the widest exposure, and the ability to put up lots of pics.
