Oil pressure gauge threads

What is the thread spec. for the oil pressure gauge out of D4 (5M1065), the threads have gone on the 90 deg. elbow between it and the pipe and the parts book lists a fitting 3B8990 with a nut......well, this makes me think this could be different to what I have and why I thought I'd try getting it from a factors place

Hi Richard,
standard Cat gauges are usually male 1/8" NTP. The fitting to go on the gauge stub is usually a 90# elbow P/No 3B9001 or a straight coupling 3B8989, depending on the application, they both have a replaceable 1F1344 nut ( incorperates the olive or purchase a new olive) to convert to 1/4" copper tube.
Seems your engine has come from a 5M 112 Motor Grader.
Looked thru my lit. and cannot find the P/No fitting you have mentioned so cannot help further. Someone else may have something to add for you.

TC, its a bit go, stop, go, stop, I've been up tinkering away at it changing over the old for new bits.......just about all the parts have arrived now aside from one piece for the transmission which is on its way and the new sprocket rims which after 2 weeks still haven't come from Italy, the chap will call on Monday to say what other news there is but as of Friday night they were still on the "Le Continent"........hopefully by the end of the week I should have them.....not sure what plans you have for next Saturday 😖mile: ......anyway I have delayed the return to work until 31st of Aug.

Seeing as the machine is in the state it is it would be an ideal opportunity to get a bit of colour on it so I had asked around to see about sand-blasting and priming but everyone it seems is busy, till September.....anyway reckon the paint job will get done at Christmas now

Once I get some more defo. news I'll be in touch

this is the joker.....so it seems its the 3B9001......parts book diag. wasn't so clear which made me pause

Hi Richard,
that looks to be the standard set up with the 3B9001 elbow.

Be aware that there is an elbow that looks just like that one--same casting I guess-- that has the same machining in BOTH ends for the olive seats ie, joins two pipes at 90#.

These will just fit loosly and strip if tightened. Be sure you have the 9B9001 elbow, olive seat one end and 1/8" NPT taper the other, and you should be good to go as by the picture the gauge threads look passable with some loctite.
