Could be coming from pinion seal, bevel gear shaft seal or over oiling the throwout bearing. Any of these could dribble down the sides and be carried around by the drum.
The plugs are out of the bottom if i spray break cleaner on the brake drum and brake lining i can run it for awhile before it stops working. thanks
I'm wondering if maybe the wear on the brake linings is to the point of getting into the rivets or beyond? That and a little oil will really screw up the brakes. If the plugs have been out and it's still oiling up, maybe too much oil on the throwout bearings? I don't see how gear oil could be getting from the pinion all the way out to the brakes as it would have to get past the bearings first.
Just a thought. . .

The brake linings look really good where do you oil the throw out bearings this is my first old cat.thanks
Well there is no real way for oil to get on drum it has to be a build up of oil in the bottom that its turning in. Ckeck like CC says and you may wanna plugit and flush it really good keep us posted of what you find out

Lube the throwout bearings with oil every 10 hrs in cups right under front edge of seet just behind where the steering levers pivot
