I am looking at a D6 electric start with a hand clutch. There is oil in the radiator. I am presuming it is the oil cooler. Is there a way to check it? Maybe the head gasket is leaking? It runs good with no skipping.

I do not see how it could be possible for the oil cooler leak to oil into the radiator. It almost has to be coming from the head or even a crack in the block. I am assuming it has no pony motor what so ever?😞

The cooling system runs about 8 to 12 lbs. pressure. The oil pressure runs about 30 to 50 lbs. Any ruptures, or cracks will allow oil to enter the cooling system. Sometimes when the engine is at rest coolant will enter the oil system. The engine at operating tempature will disapate about a gallon of water per hour. So just because you don't see evidence of cool in the crank case don't mean that it is not passing through. Anti-freeze is the concern as it is abrasive, don't take much to do extensive damage. Pull the cooler, check it out. If you don't see the problem, pressure check it

Hope this helps Floyd

Oil pressure 60 psi, coolant pressure @15 psi, oil will migrate from from a small crack in the cooler to the coolant. Glen
