I just talked with a neighbor and he said that the oil cooler on his D2 is leaking. Is there anyone making a good drop in replacement or is plugging it off the best remedy? I would prefer to keep them on my own equipment for the few times that they do get the tar worked out of them. If you plug the lines is there anything that needs to be done to the filter housing to prevent a pressure buildup problem? Thanks.

Most people considered the oil cooler on the D2 to be overkill--not necessary. It can be removed and the ports plugged off if you remove the relief valve from the filter base, or you can just put a shunt pipe in place of the cooler lines at the filter base ports.

If I was pulling the world sideways with the D2, I'd prefer to have the oil cooler working. Just my opinion.

There's a bunch of old threads here on the subject.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
