Hello.
How much oil for the pony motor for my d315 engine (1956)

1 quart - a bit under a litre (0.95)

Yes, 1 quart oil for the small 4 cylinders' pony motor.

The pony for the 6 cylinder D4600 and D318 holds 1.5 quarts. It is a larger displacement engine and physically larger than the pony for the smaller 4 cylinder engines.

Still plenty cheap enough to change it if there is any question about it having gasoline in it etc.

I see i misread the question😀
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄
