off topic- Killefer 15-20 pan breaker

bursitis, have you found anyplace that has information on the old Killefer implements? I have a very old Killefer that is mechanical (not hydraulic) but I dont know what it was originally used for. I also have a John Deere Killefer tool bar carrier that has a hydraulic ram but is still steel wheeled and tow behind. I have not been able to find any info on either of them. Any ideas would be appreciated. Grant.

my knowledge is pretty limited. killefer was a company in california that produced tillage tools and was purchased by john deere and became john deere killefer and was later moved to Illinois. sorry i don't know the dates for all af this but someone here can probably fill in?

I always noticed Caterpillar crawlers pulling JD Killefer implements. I was told back in the day when dealerships for Caterpillar and John Deere were sold under the same roof, it was natural for the crawler buyer to purchase the JD Killefer items to pair up.
Bursitis: I saw your query about the wheels in the FS section; I do not like them being loose or "floppy", but per everything I have read, that is normal even when brand new. I have yet to take one apart to see how they are assembled. I should make a point to try and get a parts book/list for one of these chisels or tool carriers.
I just bought another one that was converted to hydraulic. I am tempted to replace the spoked wheels with new hubs and rubber tires, but then again, it works fine as is. JM

The big outer nut that your photo shows is what I have not been able to break loose. It is a John Deere Killefer model 2-02. I had a 3 foot pipe wrench + 6 foot cheater bar plus heat and only managed to break a small chunk of metal off of the nut. If you locate a parts diagram or list, I would really like a copy. My even earlier Killefer (before John Deere) model 265 120 is in need of some parts also, so any information will be appreciated. Thanks, Grant.

grant i suspect that there is a roller bearing set up instead of a taper bearing. not sure though. in my search i found some conversions to taper bearings made by the Amish or also new straight roller bearings made by same.  the outer is just a big cast iron cap i think used like a grease cup to force grease. look right next to the hub you will see a very thin hex with external threads. tighten this and the hub snugs up.  maybe take out the grease zerk and fill the cap with atf to loosen the internal threads caked with old grease???

This looks like a smaller version of what Juiceman sold. Somone converted it to hydraulic but I an converting it back since I dont have hydraulics on my Cat 22.  Do the photos give any indication of what it was originally intended for?  Grant.
