Fellows, I know this is a Caterpillar site, but it seems you fellows gravitate towards anything tracks and am hoping somebody remembers where they might have seen an Allis-Chalmers L or LO or LLO sitting. I have what is left of an LO for a long time and I either need to get busy and get to work at making it come back to life or simply forget it. You know how that goes... wait any longer, I won't ever get it done. I have the engine minus one piston , connecting rod and oil pan sitting in a derelict chassis. No tracks no rollers, busted finals, busted housing where dead axels are set in, and that is in the main housing. ARRGH. Here are some pictures. Right side, still has injection pump...

Left side

Over all view of LO crawler, looked like it was used in a rock quarry or something.

Here is a picture out of the Allis sales book that had made me want one way back in about 1969... and the above pics is all I got since.LOL

Here is a sales lit brochure... Sure would be nice if I ever got mine looking like that.

Last year I was googling and looking on the net and I ran across these following two pictures... that were located out near Beresford, SD.
Got in contact with seller and he said it had been sold several years ago and did not remember where it went to. [sad]

Garwood winches on back, shed fell down and a tree fell over the cab...

and the engine was in need of work, Just what I was looking for! Oh well it was sold before I ever knew about it...
But I got to thinking maybe some one somewhere knows where this one went to?
OR KNOWS OF possibly another candidate to put my LO engine into when it gets fixed???
Hope to get some leads or tips... Thanks, Jerry

Hi Jerry, you have it bad! : ) Welcome to the forum - yes, everyone here likes things on tracks. Pretty sure that one of the members will have some kind of useful information for you. That's a cool looking machine - I don't think I've seen one that runs on tractor fuels via injectors so I learned something today. Good luck with your quest and if you do make progress, be sure to post back here and let us know how it goes. Photos and videos are always welcome!

and here is a four cylinder oil engine, Dave furgeson's AO, kind of like the ones that were used in the oil fields of Texas etc., supposedly running 70hp on the dyno.

Tractor was sold and Dave is now gone.

If nothing else, just get that engine running & set it up for a display...that's a Waukesha-Hesselman. Cool!

General Gear in Idaho has some parts for Allis Chalmers crawlers. He's old school too, knows his tractors.

Thanks Steve A., If Rick doesn't make a comment in a day or two, I will BB him... Jerry

Deas Plant, thank you for the other sites, I already have this thread running in AC forum... http://allischalmers.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=136047&title=ac-model-l-hunt

Ron M. thanks for the Waukesha-Hesselman link, read it and the points they were making about their engines being so good, were ultimately the opposite experiance for AC engines and reason why the 'oil engines' were converted back to gas... you had two systems to keep running, the ignition system would foul (spark plugs carbonizing and made them hard to start), etc., Or so thats is what I've been told and AC started putting the GM destroyets in...

D9gDon, thanks for the link to tractorparts.com... might have to give him a call for some other stuff too.

OIH, haven't made it up to see you yet, ... as for the " I'll have him run him down." No, I don't need Rick gettin runned over... at least not til he tells me where all the old allis's are sitten.😉

Well D9gDon, I called General Gear and they are evidently not old school enough anymore, I asked about any parts for LO or an L and the gal said Sorry... Then I asked for a fuel transfer pump for a Diesel FIFTY and she said the two they had went to Ohio, then asked if they had parts for a Cletrac DD and nope they didn't. I have batted zero today. 😮hwell:

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
