I ran across these two Cletracs at the Tulare show and they make an interesting comparison. The big guy is a Cletrac Model 100 brought to the show by a collector from Canada. 1927 Six cylinder, gasoline, 6 inch bore, 7 inch stroke, I think that is 1187 cubic inches. It has 100 drawbar horsepower and 120 belt hp. Weighs in at 28,000 lbs and could be purchased in 1928 for $7500.

The small Model F was restored and brought to the show by Leo the driver. An interesting character, as he is a retired Stanford hand surgeon. Over his lifetime he as probably restored more than 100 items ranging from Fresno scrapers to Ducati bicycle engines and if you can believe this, the second Ferrari ever made.

Both of them are very interesting, looks like Cletrac was very advanced for the era. Seems like that would be a huge tractor at 100 HP back then and sort of like a Big Bud tractor of this age, found only in the giant wheat fields of Montana and Canada. I'd guess it wasnt ever used for anything except for pulling implements and trailers in agriculture or mining.

That little one looks like the original high track design.

Looks like 8 track rollers and maybe 5 carrier rollers? That tractor looks huge! I'm like Skinner, would love to hear that 4 cylinder run under a load.

Both machines look great!

Both neat tractors. Hats off to the fellow that hauled the big one from Canada all the way to Tulare. I hope it can make Santa Margarita next year for the National event.

thats a huge big machine for its day
I wonder what the fuel consumption was I imagine it would be nice and low revving so maybe not as bad as we might think I assume its petrol

Thanks for sharing the photo I find all brands of old stuff interesting not just yellow iron

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
