So can somebody help us put a value on our number 12 grader?
The grader is in excellent working condition. We are considering selling it and just don't know what it would be worth. Serial number is 8T13555. Tires are not great but do all hold air. Has power steering.
Is located in south west Saskatchewan,Canada

I have pictures but am not sure how to load them.

A lot depends on wear. Circle wear? Lift ends ? lift gear slop? Cab? Glass and doors? They are great machines for a ranch. I have 2 thousand in mine and a lot of labor. it came with 4 new tires. Stripped cab. fair shape. How many hrs on meter?

I bought mine in SE Alberta. Runner with no oil pressure and no pony $1500 ended up spending about 5-6000 fixing engines and clutch, free would have been about right, maybe scrap price. $500 + a bottle of whiskey for runner with a bad head, haven't fixed it but if motor is in good shape otherwise, only about $2000 to fix. Excellent working condition can mean a lot of things. IF it really is excellent with little wear maybe up to $5000, unlikely though, since it's probably ex-RM with 20,000+ hours. Regular wear and tear with poor tires I would say no more than $2500, if lots of white smoke from rusted 3 and 4 exhaust valves $1500. Somebody else will disagree I'm sure, but I find repairs to be too costly to pay much for them. Post in for sale and ask for offers
Good luck with your sale

Last one that sold on a auction around here was a good running 12 complete with side snow wing. Power steering works well. All glass is intact but a couple cracked. Starting pinion is not in good shape. Brakes did not work. Sold at auction for $1,700. Bought by a ACMOC member and is still setting in my yard where it was drove to. He fired it up yesterday after our club work day.

Had a late oil clutch 8T sell late winter here. It was a bare machine, cab with decent glass, power steering, no side curtains and a 70D engine. It went for $4000 and made it 15 miles before being parked in a field drive with a trail of oil following it. Didn't find out what happened to it.

44barranch,
Welcome to the bulletin board. I saw this grader on 2S Auctioneers and was watching what it was going for. I seen that it had a reserve on it.

Based on the pictures that were on the site there are a few things that I noticed that I took into consideration. It going to need tires, they are getting pretty low on tread. The seat needs to be recovered, and it needs some glass work. That is the just the visual stuff that I noticed in the pictures that were posted on the auction site.

Other things that I would consider from a mechanical point. How well does the pony motor run? how well does it engage the flywheel to start the diesel? Does the diesel smoke white when it runs? Do the brakes work? Is the clutch good? What are the u-joints like that run all the drive shafts? What kind of shape is the gear box in to engage the implements? Of course these are all things that one has to come look at in person and test in order to give a fair offer.

mog5858 is probably right on par for a value range at $1500-$5000. I mean $5000 would be at the very high end for a machine in really good shape.

Hope this helps
Cheers
Nate

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
