The Fordson model is in the Heidrick Museum. An interesting concept. I'd love to take one of those out on trails in the mountains here in Colorado. Lots of snow up there. And beautiful views. Only 9 degrees F. outside here this morning in Denver. High to be around low 40s. GWH

I had seen a shorter version of that video but the not the full length one. It sure looking like a fun ride. I noted that toward the end they had put on chain guards in the rear.

I could have used this rig quite a few times. I bet it would go in mud too. Thanks for digging up the video.

I was waiting for them to go across the pond! I really like the idea. There must have been a BIG problem with something; otherwise there would have been many different designs. I’ve never seen anything quite like them.
I see a couple of things I would change to improve them but what a great concept for the early 1900’s

Good job guys even 100 years after it was designed…

I have seen the one at the Heidrick museum and I must say they are really smaller than one would think. There are also 2 of them in Alaska. One is together and on display the other is in parts behind a building, but easily identified by the drums.

If the driver drums interfacing with the snow were sealed, they might act as pontoons allowing one to drive on water. GWH

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
