Time to generate a bit of talk on this i reckon, I think we can be comfortable in the fact that they have realised the 3 scales they have done these in 2 are winners with only the grader produced in 1/87 so far.

That said the 1/50 releases in the 572C,977 & 966 are great models for the price i think.

The 2 crawler machines in the 1/16 scale so far have been great too.

I would like to think an early scraper like a 619, 621 or 631 would be nice additions in 1/50 but will be happy with whatever they do if it turns out like the 966 has.

I believe the choices need to be looked at long and hard now because we are getting into a bit of saturation between what era,s and styles of models are coming through from the 3/4 promoters/manufacturers of Cat scale models and while there are lots of people who are of the more the merrier style budgeting there are a bunch of guys and gals who i am sure spend there budget according to what they like more so than what is totally available.

Look forward to hearing what is coming out.

Lee probably has some info on this. I'm sure we will hear something when he gets on the site.

I'm guessing something will be done with pipelayer converted to a dozer.

At this point, we are behind in putting together a plan for Norscot for 2010. We just reached agreement with Norscot. The BoD gave me authorization to sign the agreement at the December meeting this past Monday. I will start conversation between our committee and Norscot to develop the plan. As soon as I know something, I will post it here. However, it may be 3 to 4 weeks before we have it all sorted out, so please bear with me.

We'll consider any ideas posted here, I have some input from Catman, and I know Dave Tallon has some ideas. We just need to agree, and lay out a plan.

I have my skid steer hopelessly buried in the mud, so am working today to try to free it. My D4 is 700 miles away in the shed in Minnesota. It would be handy if it were here today. I may have to swallow my pride and ask a neighbor to come pull me out with his Komatsu.😞

At any rate, I may be able to start some email conversations with the committee after the sun sets today.

Regards,
Lee

Lee, for the entertainment of all (and your chagrin), PLEASE take photos 😉
In all reality, good luck, dress warm and get it out before it becomes a permanantly frozen part of the landscape.

Thanks Lee, goodluck with the recovery.

I think dozers for me are just a little bit done to death but i understand the commercial reality of possibly using the 572 and turning it into a D7, will have a look tonight through a few of Eric,s books for possible choices and create a wish list!!

One thing i would suggest is stick to your guns on the era of machines chosen for the various scales, 1/16 for the say 1925 to 1950 machines, 1/50 for the say 1950 to 1970 machines and for these maybe stick with the stenciled letter nomenclature style decals on the models and not delve into the pacman era too much if you know what i mean.

OK Lee, for me it is a 631A, that series of machine was the beginning of a classic line for Cat and represents a good period from which to do another 1/50 model in the same bloodline as the previous models IMO, thanks.

I agree with chugwater crawlers. Something old. Something gas or in the first series of D tractors. Better yet maybe something in the numbered diesel series.

I would like to see ACMOC come out with a PT 10 and the High Clearance 10 in 1:16 scale, diecast model. The CAT PT 10 was the smallest CAT tractor produced by Caterpillar. Although they made 4,929, this small little tractor is one of the most popular tractors to have. Almost every collector has or wants one in his collection. Frank

PS: Tom, maybe we can talk them into making some Best Models.🙄

Someone mentioned some time ago that Speccast measured their ten for a 1/16 model and that it was on the ACMOC to do list.

Frank:

I suggested a Best 30 or 60 years ago and never got any positive feedback. My conclusion was that the powers that be wanted to stick to the "Cat" models and not venture into the pre Cat models. The only mass produced Holt or Best that I am aware of is the Holt 2 Ton that was done in the 90's I believe.
