have good cond. 3t-614,, mtr. sour!!. Would like to replace w/mtr from 5600,d-6 8u. w/oil clutch. the parts bk. shows diff. bolts quan.needed, gskts might be same.. so I'm assuming pan which has to be changed, will use later #12 pan ,ok' But will clutch comp.changeover from oil to dry, be more difficult than a flywheel back complete assem. operation.. will have plenty of parts save gaskts. + newer pan,-have couple leads on that .. thanks for interest + knowledge !!! d6 pete ..

the d6 5r and 4r used the d4600 engine not a d-318, i have no idea about the clutch questions you're asking, you could definitely repower a dry clutch d68u9u with the d4600 from a 4r5r d6. you would have to change the air cleaner assembly, and the exhaust locations in the hood. intake manifold on the d4600s was on the opposite side of the d318's and the pony exhaust was different as well. the dry clutch assemblies were the same as well between the two, ihave never heard of someone adding the wet clutch to a d6 5r 4r, or to the graders. i don't know if the oil pan from a d4600 will fit on newer d318. the engines themselves are significantly different, i'm not sure if there are similarities in the base block design.

The oil clutch configuration is entirely different on a grader (foot clutch) than what was used on tractors.
There is no 3T #12 grader, it would have to be a 9K or 7T to have the D4600
Can't tell you for sure about the D4600 to D318 conversion on a grader but for the D4 conversions it requires changing the flywheel housing and using the older flywheel to work.

yes, my error, not 3t but 7t - mtr is ext. comp. release style, have(want) to change to newer 318 from d-6/8u #5600.. which used 4f7054 block assem.the cap screw +gasket show match w/oil pan#4f7084 used on the next series 8t which used the 318w/4f7054 block,... ( 7t 45-47,,,8t 47-57 ) parts book show just same drive components + i'll have to change from oil clutch back to dry clutch of the use on grader... don't know if that is a workable thing to do .... seems a doable proj to bring grader up to a better? mtr arrangement !! don't want to go into outer space w/this !!! thanks for maybe a done' this answer ,maybe !! pete

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
