I think was it is, is that JD got raked over the coals with the track system on their first tracked tractor by Cat. They waited this long for a quad track articulated tractor because of the CaseIH patents. Once bitten twice shy kinda thing.

Hi, O-I-H.
Or maybe JD learned from the 764 high speed dozer that these tracks can put grunt on the ground and decided to try to venture into the market best suited for them.
Just my 0.02.
Cant wait to see when they get one of these stuck in the mud! rofl
Hi All,
If I recall correctly, back in my days at the dealer here we were givin a stack of stickers with the cat ag products logo and 'innovation not imitation' on them. Seems case ih aren't the only ones being ripped off!!
Cheers
Hutchy
Rofl, no! it just always ends up on youtube about tractors getting buried in the mud. Theres a Case IH on there that gets buried pretty good.
Deere woke up and realized it was to costly to design a total different and specialized tractor just to be part of the market in the large horsepower tractors. With there new design they can use similar parts in common with the tired 4wd tractors with the exception of the drive train and track systems.

That whole thing was nothing but a pissin' match between the CEO's of Cat & JD, according to what I was told by a JD rep...when it was all over, JD was still building tracked tractors, & some lawyers got richer...business as usual.
