Hi All,
So that’s been a little while since the new website launched. Just a few reflections on this project from someone at the coal face so to speak. It’s been a long process behind the scenes and a lot of work for our team. First all understanding that you can’t please all the people all of the time and that most people are not fans of change I think it went pretty well. A lot of the initial annoyances like having to relogin every visit were down to the constant updates that were uploaded and having issues with posting and photos probably inevitable given we didn’t have a huge budget or many people to beta test. We are only a small Club of 2000 or so members. The big plus was all the forum history was preserved so the resource of the hive minds and the experts we’ve had helping members is all there for posterity. There were 64449 photos to republish in that history to give you an idea!
It probably wasn’t very well explained that the main reasons for the update were the old site software wasn’t supported anymore so security was a big concern, also there was a lot of work behind the scenes updating databases between the payment software and the website. Now that’s automated we can concentrate on upping the Library content, adding more value for members and updating events and chapter info. Also there’s an AI moderator been integrated to reduce volunteer work. Bugs and teething problems aside hopefully it’ll be a positive for everyone in the long run!
On reflection what the Club is lacking in some ways is worker bees to help behind the scenes so if anyone is willing to step up and shoulder some of the burden of running the Club we’d love to have you!
I‘d also like to take this opportunity to thank Adco our website provider and host for facilitating this change and being very attentive to our needs!
Regards,
Tony
Thanks for the explanation and all of the work you've done to get the bugs worked out.
Keep crawling forward, it is getting better by the day.
Change is hard but it is necessary.
Some times progress has a few rear wards steps before getting going again, I did notice the "mark items as read" not changing status on topics posted in discussion or the sale section, maybe another item that will take a work thru, no different to 99% of updates being done to all systems an adjustment is required later.

I’ll let the team know, thanks for the feedback!
Thank you Deebo for taking on a thankless job. Hopefully more improvements are coming, like not having to start on the first post every time, in the multi page threads.

So apparently the “mark items as read” is working, it takes a second to process (like max 2 seconds). But if you are marking all in Discussion or any of the categories – it’s not across the board. It clears all the unread in just that category. That’s by design. Especially for the For Sale one . Let me know if further issues!

Hello Deebo, thanks for all your hard work, I'm finding I have to log in every time, even though I'm clicking on the remember me button. Thanks
Hi Mike, good to hear from you, the re logging in will settle down. There’s still a lot of work going on behind the scenes, any time new data or a feature is “pushed” as they call it to the website it needs everyone to relogin. As time goes on and the snagging list and our tweaking demands lessen it’ll be smooth sailing! You have my word! Keep saving that yellow iron!

just so somebody knows; When I am in the for sale on the forum and click recent topics, it takes me back to the discussion side
Where is the mark as read command? A lot of time is wasted re reading posts to find where I left off.
