Hi all. Been lurking off and on, nothing new here to post till today. This Thirty spent its life in the Camas prairie in Idaho. It’s currently stuck, but hopefully not too bad. Let’s see if I can post pictures.

Keep us posted - one you don't see everyday.
Hi, Bruce P.
That looks to be a pretty straight tractor, at least from close to 11,000 miles away. I hope you;re right about the engine not being 'too' stuck - the 'kwestyun' being, "HOW stuck is TOO stuck?" I'da thought that any stuck was too much.
Re photo posting, I have found that I need to check to make sure that the Cloudflare 'captcha' button hasn't come up before I even start a post and then post one photo atta time, a PITA, I know but 'do wotchyer gotta do'.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Yes any amount of stuck is too stuck. There’s a better than average chance it will have to come apart, but iffn I don’t try I reckon I won’t find out. I’ve got diesel in the cylinders, and I’ve rescued stuck engines before. Time will tell.
BP.
Interesting dash on that, Bruce. Looks quite modern. Gas tank looks like it's about 30-35gal?
Congrats BP. You seem to come up with some cool iron. That thing looks pristine. I thought your motto was "deader the better"? LOL.
Knowing you, it won't take much to get it operational again.
Thanks for taking the time to share. JM
Yes sir another very different machine. Not something everybody else will have. Was this the proto type for what the R4 was to look like? I have never been that enamored by gas Cats, I just am not that familiar. Other than a lot of Cat 22's around, the one neighbor had a R5. He hated to fire it up because of the fuel consumption. Had the carburetor adjusted down to no power, so did not do much work. So I cannot say if this is even close to a R4.
Ok the track shoes look brand new, are they? Or was the owner of this machine also a penny pincher that just did not use it that much. Or is the Camus Prairie some of that wonderful soil that is non abrasive?
I think you're right on, Ray. Those idlers are right back, as one would expect with new tracks. If so, what a nice score
Thanks JM. Usually only the really dead ones find their way here, but it’s nice to have one with a slight pulse every now and then.
Ray, I think a few things went on with this tractor. I’m told the guy that bought it new was the only one to every farm with it. It was treated pretty nice I think. Second, local Cat legend Ted Billups went through it at some time in the sixty’s. Third, this tractor farmed around the small town of Fenn Idaho. I doubt you’d find nicer dirt in the pnw.
The rock guards aren’t all bent up and the leather boots around the spring ends are mostly in tact. Pretty amazing really. It’s done just enough work to have a few slight stubble cuts in a few spots underneath. Drawbar play is nearly undetectable.
With all that being said I’m pulling the pan off and probably the head too. The crud in the bottom of the pan is UGLY. The overheads look great however. There is no oil filter, I may try to fit a bypass filter if I can hide it well.
