Hello all, I'm new to the forum. I am from North Idaho where we farm wheat and legumes, no famous potatoes here. We have a total of four cats, a 1941 D4 2T with a blade , a 1962 D6B 44a, 1973 D4D 84J, and 1974 D6C 17R. The last three are ag cats. I have pics of all especially the last two, I will see if I can post one now.

Just wondering, is there a way to make the image appear in the post without a link or is that how it normally works?

I will post a few more to give a sample of what I have, over on farm photo I have an entire thread of 10 pics or more that each of these came off of.

That first was the D6C with a 42ft wilrich cultivator.

Here is the D4D seeding winter wheat with a 24ft great plains drill.

To post photo, before you click on the post reply button, look over the screen and you will find a button "manage attachments". Click on that button, and a window will come up. Then click on the individual buttons, one at a time, browse for your photo on your computer, click open, etc. It just comes naturally (I hope). GWH

Nice pics. I could see from the pictures that you had to be somewhere near by. I'm about 40mi from you, near Moscow. I liked the picture of you pushing snow. After last winter, I bought a D2 for that very purpose!

Yep last winter was a wakeup call for some people, had one neighbor call wanting help with the starting engine on an old cat when his driveway filled up with 5ft snowdrifts overnight. 7ft drifts on the county roads in some spots here, 4ft of snow on the level in the woods. I think this winter will be bad also, at least later on. So far is has been very warm but that will change soon. One thing I have noticed over the years is that snowy winters run in pairs and also this is a 20 year winter. the winters of 48-49, 68-69, and 88-89 where all the snowiest in their decade so 08-09 may be also. So get that D2 ready!

I will post some more pics of snow plowing later.

It is great to see the pictures of farming in your area. I farm in south west Kansas. No longer use steel track Cats to farm with. Use Cat challengers. Do not use the MT 800 series as the MT765s have enough power for us. Used to use a D8H to help out, but have not used for the last 2 years.

We do not plow or farm deep any more. On rougher ground, kill weeds and grass with chemicals, apply NH3 with V Blade and plant with Great Plains 40' HD drill. Would have horrible soil erosin otherwize. The better laying land use 36' tandem disk and the apply NH3 V blade. We do little summer fallowing, only when rotating milo to wheat. We no-till milo or grain sorhgum.

Please keep pictures coming. Always enjoyed traveling through the Palouse.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
